Meet Alex Bauer, Founder of Bauer & Co. Bookkeeping

I started Bauer & Co. Bookkeeping because I saw a gap that a lot of small business owners fall into: they're excellent at what they do — building, installing, managing, selling — but their books are an afterthought until tax season forces the issue.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Southern Oregon University, along with a certificate in Accounting Information Systems. That foundation has carried me through nearly a decade in corporate accounting and payroll leadership, most of it spent inside the finance department of a specialty contracting firm generating over $350 million in annual revenue. In that world, "close enough" isn't a option — every reconciliation, every compliance report, every number has to hold up to real scrutiny from auditors, government agencies, and stakeholders who are watching closely.

Along the way, I didn't just process numbers — I built the systems and people around them. I've stood up new departmental processes from scratch, led compliance across hundreds of active projects spanning multiple states, and mentored the staff who kept those departments running, including team members I coached remotely. I've learned firsthand what separates a finance department that merely functions from one that stakeholders genuinely trust.

That's the same standard I bring to Bauer & Co. Bookkeeping. Whether you're a specialty contractor juggling job costs across a dozen projects, or a small business owner who just wants your books to make sense, I bring the same precision and process-driven mindset that large-scale compliance work demands — scaled down to fit a business your size, without the six-figure overhead of an in-house finance department.

What makes this different from working with a typical bookkeeper isn't just accuracy — it's genuine curiosity. I like solving problems and building systems that actually work, not just entering data. That mindset is what drives Bauer & Co. Bookkeeping today: helping business owners get organized, accurate books they can trust, so they can spend less time worrying about the numbers and more time running the business they built.

Clean books. Confident decisions. That's the whole idea.
